In this post – and the video below – we show you the Top 3 reasons how YouTube can help local businesses market and promote their business.

TIP: This can work for any business, not just local ones!

There has been a lot of news about small businesses and how we should shop local.

Google have recently announced various enhanced measures to help local businesses feature more highly in SERPs. small shop next to a mega supermarket

So how do the smaller, local companies compete with the massive marketing budgets of the National companies?  The answer is video, and for the following reasons:

Reason 1: Engagement

Video is much more engaging than text and even images. It is real – you can connect with your customers on a personal level. Showing how you understand them and their needs. You can show your shop or facilities, talk about any offers you have and what are the main reasons why someone should shop locally with you. Small businesses often offer higher service levels – you can easily get this across in a video – and stand out from the competition.

Reason 2: YouTube can help local businesses showcase their business

People buy people, and you can put you, the person, in front of your audience. Then if they buy into you, you have the connection. It is best to do this IRL of course, and only second to that is video! If you need business help, read this and then video and YouTube marketing could be the way. Imagine some sweeping shots of your store or premises, in all its glory – a perfect advertisement for your company.

Reason 3: Video ranks quickly

Possibly the most compelling reason, is that video ranks really quickly compared to traditional SEO methods. It is possible to get a video about a local business to the top of the search results in days, not months or years. Tomorrow even!

Video marketing, i.e. using YouTube to help local businesses is a great technique for small businesses to compete with the big boys! A video on YouTube will stay there for years. It is like a permanent advertising billboard! It has the potential to send you free traffic week after week, year after year! If you do it yourself, it is a totally free traffic generator for your business.
